Secondary Symposium 2025

Secondary Symposium 2025

Art Education Victoria is proud to present our 2025 Secondary Symposium in partnership with Monash University Art, Design & Architecture (MADA). This special event is designed especially for Secondary School Visual Art Educators.

The theme for this years symposium is:

Pathways, Patterns & Practices: Cycles of Creative Knowledge

This Symposium invites educators to investigate how creative pathways, patterns and practices unfold across the interconnected roles educators inhabit. By exploring the transitions and continuous cycle of learning and teaching within creative communities, we examine how creative knowledge is transferred, transformed, and sustained across different educational and artistic contexts. The program will include keynote presentation, educator discussion groups, workshops, and viewing of MUMA exhibition and MADA Now Graduate exhibition.

Key Topics:

  • Pathways through Visual Arts Education: Mapping student journeys through Visual Arts education and beyond
  • Patterns in Cultural Knowledge: Exploring patterns of cultural knowledge transmission and transformation in creative practice
  • Patterns in Pedagogy: Examining teaching methods that support transitions from secondary to tertiary learning and artistic development
  • Practices as Student-Artist-Educator: Exploring the intersection of artist and teaching practice, with hands-on workshops for educators to make art and develop personal practice

Immerse yourself in enlightening presentations, interactive workshops and valuable networking opportunities tailored to enhance your skills and expertise.
