CREATIVE EDUCATORS | NGV

Saturday, 14 October 2017, 10 – 2 pm

NGV INTERNATIONAL (MEET: SCHOOLS / GROUP ENTRANCE ON THE GROUND LEVEL)

Immerse yourself in the colourful world of paint with artist Nic Plowman. Explore painting techniques for the classroom through a series of live demonstrations and practical exercises designed to build knowledge and confidence in paint handling, colour mixing and linear and tonal drawing methods.

Working off reference images supplied from the NGV Collection, develop knowledge of the proportional and structural elements of the human head and create your own preparatory drawing. Participants will then use these drawings as a launching point to explore paint techniques to create their own colourful work of art.

Nic Plowman is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland, who specializes in drawing, painting, print making and sculpture. His work is largely autobiographical and explores themes of mortality, fear and triumph.

Creative Educators professional development programs present tailored art-making workshops based on contemporary teen interests and skills. These programs follow a series of teen school holiday workshops and lend unique insight into their processes and how to best highlight these skills in the classroom.
