The Visual Art Educators of South Australia (VAESA) are hosting their annual conference.

 

FRIDAY: PUTTING THE ‘A’ INTO STEM at The Art Gallery of South Australia

 

Key Note Speaker: Professor Martin Westwell, the inaugural Director of the Flinders Centre for Science Education in the 21st Century

Lecture: ‘STEM and the Arts: Assimilation, integration or multiculturalism?’ 

Following this: Critical and Creative thinking and the three priorities in the Australian Curriculum of Asia, Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander people and Sustainability will be examined through guided gallery tours in small groups with curators and specialists who will describe and discuss specific artworks that can be used as references for your classroom. Educators will also present innovative practices in schools for primary, middle and senior secondary years with examples of student work included.

 

SATURDAY: PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS WITH ARTISTS at The South Australian School of Art, Dorritt Black Building, City West Campus, University of South Australia
