HEIDI | PD MIRKA MORA & PRUE STEVENSON WITH AMAZE

HEIDI | PD MIRKA MORA & PRUE STEVENSON WITH AMAZE

Heidi Museum of Modern Art launches it 2019 Professional Development program with a unique experience featuring contemporary artist Prue Stevenson and Amaze, the peak body for autistic people, their families and supporters in Victoria. This PD begins with a guided tour of the exhibition Mirka Mora: Pas de Deux—Drawings and Dolls, after which Prue and Amaze representative Fiona Ransley, will lead a presentation and discussion of autism and autistic self-regulating behaviours such as stimming, and toys as comfort objects. Prue, who is autistic herself, will also facilitate a practical drawing and embroidery workshop, connecting concepts explored during the day.

This PD will address the following standards as listed in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher registration in Victoria.

  • Develop teaching activities that incorporate differentiated strategies to meet the specific learning needs of learners across the full range of abilities. (Standard descriptor 1.5)
  • Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support all learners in learning activities. (Standard descriptor 4.1)
