ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER ARTS AND CULTURES | NGV

Join colleagues for an introduction to Past Legacy: Present Tense and a discussion on how to use the NGV Collection to engage your students within the framework of the new Victorian Curriculum.

The discussion will present historical and contemporary works in the collection, and introduce the practical art making workshops and educational resources available to your school. This engaging evening program will explore the importance of Country/Place, Culture and People and assist you to develop frameworks for teaching and learning in the primary and secondary classrooms.

Wadawurrung artist Jenny Crompton will discuss both her artistic practice and her artwork Sea Country Spirits. Jenny Crompton lives and works on the Victorian surf coast, where her prolific and expansive practice focuses on themes that explore the environment and the indigenous culture of her country. The evening will conclude with a guided tour in Past Legacy: Present Tense.
