Advocate

Advocacy for Art Education and the Visual Arts is at the very heart of ArtEdVic. We share the passion and concern for visual arts eduction in schools and communities. It is a key part of our strategy to ensure that this voice is heard throughout the Victorian and wider community.

We do this by

  • Developing and collating resources to help members advocate for art education in their schools and communities
  • Being a united voice for members in submissions to government reviews and inquiries and policy development
  • Being an independent voice when representing members with state and national governing bodies
  • Providing face to face and online opportunities for members to share experiences and support each other, including the Art Education Victoria Facebook groups.
  • Produce ARTicle our online publication

ARTicle is our online publication which showcases work from around the state and topics realted tot he visual arts more broadly. It’s the perfect place to find out what is happening in other schools and get inspired. Browse the articles or use the filters to find a specific article. Access to ARTicle is one of our member benefits.

We passionately believe that nurturing creativity, particularly among students, fosters critical and innovative thinking throughout society. We represent our memebrs and are invited to be part of review panels with the Victorian Curriculum Assesment Authority (VCAA). We are also a member of the Council of Professional Teachers Association in Victoria and our Executive Officer, Lena CIrillo is a memeber of the RMIT University School of Art, Industry Advisory Committee (SIAC). We consult to cultural organisations and schools and are a leader in the field for Art Education innovation and reach.
