Rachel’s previous experience in arts education includes teaching at Marymede Catholic College and Trinity Grammar. Additionally, she has been designing and delivering community arts projects for almost twenty years. This work has included working with the City of Yarra, City of Whittlesea and City of Melbourne, many of which have been undertaken through the City of Melbourne’s Art Play and Signal Art Spaces. Rachel has also partnered with Regional Arts Victoria on outreach drawing programs and has undertaken residencies in art and education at the National Gallery of Victoria and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art.

Becoming a teacher was a natural progression for Rachel and she completed a Master in Teaching (Secondary) from the University of Melbourne in 2010. This study built on her previous endeavours, which include a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Art) Honours, from the Australian National University, for which she was awarded the University Medal.

Rachel is a passionate teaching artist who strives to share a deep love and enthusiasm for art making, creative exploration and creative communities. She believes that through making and creating, sharing ideas and knowledge we can all find ways to be more fulfilled humans and create more engaged and cohesive societies.
